Language Barrier
Is something our family grew up with
My siblings’ first languages were all different
Eventually,
We all learned Korean
But a few of us took some…
Time…
I was the last among my peers to pick up reading Korean
And my brother, who has autism, was taking longer to get accustomed to the new language.
But!
We had our ways to bond
Movies
Drawings
Charades
We relied on visual communication
Our family created an accessible setting that worked for all of us
And now as a Digital Media and Design student,
I try to keep mindful of inclusivity and accessibility whenever I produce my visual content.
